I'm Elisabete Dobbins, affectionately known as Liz. I'm a devoted mother to two remarkable children and a proud grandmother, enriching my life with love and joy. My journey to the United States began in 1985 when my family and I left Cape Verde Islands to seek new opportunities. A decade later, my husband and I made our home in Atwater, California, where we joined the family business. This wasn't just any business, but a compassionate venture started by my in-laws in 1971, dedicated to residential care facilities for individuals with special needs. It's here that I found my calling and purpose.
By 2014, my commitment to making a difference took on a new form when I co-founded The Haven ADP with my sister-in-law, Chante Dobbins, who took on the role of CEO. As the COO and Director of this community-based day program, I've dedicated nearly three decades to serving individuals with special needs. My mission is more than a professional obligation; it's a personal quest to create a bridge between our special needs population and the broader community. I strive to empower these individuals to become productive, joyful members of their communities, all while breaking down barriers through fun, educational initiatives that shine a light on the value and potential of those we serve.
In October of 2022, my mission expanded further with the establishment of The Chance Dobbins Sr. Charity, named in loving memory of my late husband. This nonprofit organization extends its reach to support not only individuals with special needs but also veterans and others. We offer a variety of services, including a clothes closet, food pantry, and educational classes, aiming to provide a holistic support system for our community's most vulnerable.
Continuing on this path of innovation and inclusion, in January 2023, I launched Club67. This nightclub, a first of its kind in the region, is specifically designed for the special needs community in Merced County and surrounding areas. Club67 is more than a venue
